A BEST PRACTICE DESIGN
Our best practice designs are based on the latest research and adult learning designs for maximum sustainability and results
1—Setting the Context and Creating Learner Engagement
A communication plan begins prior to training, sets the context, introduces the learning concepts, sets the expectation for involvement level, and provides information on various training elements, such as assessments and prework. This first step ensures high levels of participation, engagement, and organization support and alignment. The second step creates learner engagement either through a classroom or virtual kickoff. These kickoffs, generally lasting 90 minutes, get participants enthusiastic and excited while introducing them to core learning concepts and program elements. This session uses Web-conferencing journal technology and participant journals to capture and reflect new concepts.2—Acquiring New Skills through Self-Paced Learning
(Three to Six hours of study spread out over two weeks)Participants use a journal and the engaging Ninth House® program to learn and practice the program skills. Ninth House brings Blanchard’s content to life through a series of carefully crafted and thoroughly engaging stories. People learn by watching entertaining parables and using interactive simulations. They test their knowledge and understanding through games and activities. Along the way, they can consult The One Minute Mentor™, an online coaching and support tool.
3—Practicing New Behaviors in a Classroom Setting
(One day)Participants work together and practice new skills in a one-day, traditional classroom setting. Our outstanding facilitators use actual work situations so that participants experience the "learning by doing" necessary to change their behavior back on the job. Purposeful training gives participants an opportunity to interact with their peers and one of our expert facilitators. Classroom time also allows for questions and answers and creates a sense of community among the participants.
